It was a beautiful day as the Mayor, Shelby City Council members, City of Shelby staff, members of the community, and a group of very happy furry friends gathered together for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the newly completed Shelby Dog Park!
Mayor Stan Anthony addressed a crowd of around 50 people and expressed his gratitude to the Shelby City Council for approving the funding for this long-anticipated project. He also thanked City of Shelby staff for their dedication to the project, with special thanks directed to the Parks and Recreation Department for their hard work preparing the dog park for the community.
The Shelby Dog Park is open each day from dawn to dusk and can be accessed via the Carolina Harmony Trail trailhead, located at 198 West Marion Street, Shelby. The park includes two separate fenced sections for smaller and larger dogs totaling just under two acres and includes such features as a multi-tiered water fountain, benches, trash receptacles, dog waste bins, large rock elements, shade trees, and non-active fire hydrants.
