Beginning on August 24 and running through October 5, South Lafayette Street will be closed to through traffic between the Broad Street/South Morgan Street area and Ramblewood Drive/Morton Street, while the City replaces aging waterline along South Lafayette Street. 

Motorists should follow the posted detour routes shown on the map and allow for extra travel time. Local access will be maintained for residents and businesses within the construction area. 

Once the waterline project is complete, NCDOT plans to repave South Lafayette Street. This repaving is expected to be completed before the end of November.
