America 250 Tree Dedication

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Mayor Stan Anthony, elected officials, City of Shelby staff, and members from the community, gathered for a ceremony to dedicate a tree planted in honor of our nation's 250th anniversary.

During the ceremony, the Mayor expressed his gratitude and thanked those who were involved in helping with the ceremony and gave remarks about the history of the Liberty Tree and the significance of this milestone in our country's history.

The highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of a bronze plaque dedicating the Lacebark Elm tree that was planted at Hanna Park. After the unveiling, the Mayor read the inscription on the plaque and invited all in attendance to sign an America 250 flag.

This flag was hung at City Hall later that day and will be framed after Independence Day and permanently placed in City Hall.
