The Shelby-Cleveland County Regional Airport will be hosting its annual Fly-In and Open House on Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free, open to the public, and something the whole family will enjoy.
Compass Aviation is offering limited airplane rides for $40 and JAARS is offering limited helicopter flights for $50. The aircraft will carry an average of 5 riders per flight. Atrium Health will have a medical helicopter on site for viewing and touring. American and European cars will also be on display. There will also be booths and information available from aviation related activities and organizations such as CAP, (Civil Air Patrol), Marine Corps League Foothills Detachment #1164, Compass Aviation, Resurgence, powered parachutes, hot air ballooning, FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), JAARS and flight training. Food and Snowballs will be available from vendors.
Come out and enjoy the day, tour the airport terminal, grab a bite to eat, and see many aircraft up close while viewing them taking off and landing on the airfield.
