Beginning on Monday April 20th, a contractor for the City of Shelby will be working on South Morgan Street from Graham Street to Gardner Street. During this time there will be a road closure in place for approximately one (1) week. Following the road closure, this portion of the street will operate as a one way while the contractor installs stormwater infrastructure associated with the Depot Park Project. Please see attached Map depicting the road closure area.
The City of Shelby awarded the Depot Park Project to T.C Strickland Construction Inc. This project is located along South Morgan Street and South Market Street between West Graham Street and Gardener Street. The Depot Park project includes, but is not limited to, the adaptive reuse rehabilitation of the existing Depot Building, the addition of two (2) new structures including a restroom building, and an open-air shelter. Site upgrades will include road improvements with curb and gutter, storm drains, and asphalt; extension of the Carolina Harmony Trail; playground; misting system; pavers; site and decorative lighting; and landscaping.
