Ice Storm Warning

The National Weather Service has issued an Ice Storm Warning for our area until Monday, January 26, 1:00 PM EST

Shelby and Cleveland County have been forecast to receive some snow, sleet, and significant ice accumulations. This storm has the potential to produce hazardous travel conditions, as well as downed limbs, trees, and power lines. Some City of Shelby customers may experience power outages.  In the event of power outages, the City of Shelby is prepared to dispatch crews, and will work as quickly as possible to restore power to any affected City of Shelby customers. 

If you are a City of Shelby customer and experience a power outage, you may report it by phone or online.  Follow the instructions below for reporting an outage.

Via Phone:

  • Call 704-484-6866 (This number is for reporting a power outage.  Dial 911 if you experience a medical or other emergency situation.)

  • Select Option 1 for English and Option 2 for Spanish

  • Then select Option 1 to Report an Electric Outage

  • Next, select Option 1 to confirm your address

  • Lastly, select Option 1 to confirm your call-back number

(You will get an update call-back confirming power has been restored.)


Via Internet: (Computer, Mobile Device or Tablet)

Click here and click on the “Power Outage” button and follow the on-screen instructions. 

This screen also provides information such as the number of outages, whether an outage has been reported in your area, and when power has been restored to an area.
