The City's arborist has evaluated the live oak trees around the Uptown Shelby area and identified several trees that are dying. While live oaks may live for a long period of time, circumstances such as disease, damage from large commercial vehicles and storm damage can cause these beautiful trees to die prematurely.
As part of the planned process to ensure our tree canopy is preserved and safe for the public, the City of Shelby will be working to replace approximately fifteen of these trees in the coming weeks. The City will post additional information about this process and notify business owners when work is to be done near their location.
