On the morning of April 18th 2015 members of the community, Uptown Shelby Association and Keep Shelby Beautiful converged in front of the Chamber of Commerce and participated in the first Uptown Shelby Litter Sweep for the year.  Fowl weather predictions could not deter the volunteers that day.  The 30 participants consisted of local children, parents, families, family pets and one citizen of England.  575 pounds of litter and recyclables was collected in and around Uptown.  Keep Shelby Beautiful thanks all who participated for their dedication and efforts to help keep Shelby beautiful!

“When a community and its residents unite with beautification as a common purpose, transformations occur not only in the physical surroundings, but in the hearts and minds of everyone involved. Beauty is a silent but powerful force that makes communities safer, healthier and more livable.”
