Golf Course Manager

Performs work technical and administrative work planning and overseeing the operation of the municipal golf course. Responsibilities include: plans, assigns, and supervises the work of golf course shop personnel; supervises the collection, accounting, and recording of course fees and other funds; maintains accounting records; maintains and prepares a variety of records and reports; submits work orders and purchase requests; orders merchandise; maintains appropriate inventory levels; makes recommendations regarding the maintenance and repair of golf course grounds; develops plans for improving the golf facility; performs occasional maintenance tasks such as mowing fringes and raking traps; plans, organizes and oversees golf tournaments and special events; schedules and conducts adult and junior golf instruction and golf clinics; performs membership sales and maintenance duties; assists in marketing and promotion of new memberships; assigns, directs, trains and inspects the work of staff; evaluates staff performance; develops staff schedules; ensures the safety of participants, attendees, and staff; enforces posted rules and regulations; investigate accidents and/or incidents; assists in budget preparation and monitors expenditures; prepares and maintains information on City website and social media; performs marketing and advertising tasks to promote the golf course.

Hours: Full-time, first shift hours.  Will be required to work outside of normal working hours for events including some weekends and holidays.

To Compete in the Selection Process:

Associates degree with coursework in business administration, golf course administration, or related field and considerable experience supervising golf course operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, and policies used in municipal golf course operations; skill in the use of personal computers and software packages; ability to prepare and maintain detailed financial records; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, course guests, vendors, and the general public.

Special requirements: Valid NC Driver’s License, First Aid/CPR, and US Kids Golf Certificated Coach or similar such as First Tee certification within 6 months of employment.
