Utilities: Field Operations
Duties
 Our Field Operations department is responsible for the management, maintenance, cleaning and inspecting of 185 miles of sewer collection systems and 220 miles of potable water mains. Other responsibilities include maintenance of 78 miles of water and sewer right of ways. This department employs 14 highly trained full time employees. Our personnel hold State certifications and NC Water Treatment facility certifications.
 In order to provide quality service to our customers, interruptions to service are quickly resolved as employees are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to correct any problems occurring on the City’s water or wastewater delivery systems. Being highly visible to the public as they work along or near streets throughout the City, the department practices work safety in order to protect employees while fulfilling our commitment to provide service in a responsive and reliable manner.
