The City of Shelby is a community of approximately 21,000 residents located in the piedmont of North Carolina.   The city limits cover an area of approximately 19 square miles.

The Shelby Police Department is a full service police agency comprised of 87 full time employees.  The department handled over 48,000 calls for services in 2007.  Our department operates under a community based policing philosophy.

The Vision for the police department is "To be a recognized leader in our community by providing the highest level of customer service".   Our staff is dedicated to the citizens we serve, and works diligently to reduce crime and make Shelby one of the safest cities in North Carolina.
