Job Description:
Will perform responsible protective service work involving a variety of general or support duty police assignments; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Enforces laws, investigates crime, controls traffic, collects evidence, prepares reports and issues warrants and summons; on an assigned shift, operates a patrol vehicle, bicycle or walks to observe for law violations; responds to radio dispatches and answers calls and complaints; makes arrest and testifies in court; provide police escorts and directs traffic; performs residential and commercial checks; attempts to reduce law infractions and accidents through high visibility; fills out arrest reports, fingerprints and photographs etc.; participates in a variety of in-service and special training programs; responds to and investigates domestic disputes and assist other law enforcement agencies when requested or assigned; may perform security activities and CRMC; may be assigned to investigation, crime prevention, K-9, DARE, problem policing, narcotics or other technical or special support operations; performs related task as required. Position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school with an Associates degree in Criminal Justice or related field, completion of BLET and some experience as a police officer preferred. Minimum requirements: valid NC driver license, age 20, no felony or class “B” misdemeanor. Applicants must be able to meet standards for training and employment as described in the North Carolina Administrative Code. Position is open until filled.
