Mr. Hopper is a native of Shelby, NC.  He is employed full time with the Cleveland County Department of Social Services as a Social Worker Supervisor.  He is a retired Command Sergeant Major from the US Army where he received numerous awards and decorations, including the Legion of Merit Medal.  Mr. Hopper is a former police officer with the Baltimore, Maryland and the City of Shelby Police Departments.  He is a graduate of Green Bethel High School.  Mr. Hopper obtained an AA in Police Science from Cleveland Community College and a BA in Psychology from Limestone College.  Mr. Hopper is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) and The Disabled American Veterans (DAV).  He is a member of the Prince Hall Pride of the West Masonic Lodge No. 193.  He is the Steering Committee Chairman of the Northeast Shelby Weed and Seed Program.  Mr. Hopper is an independent agent with the NC Boxing Commission.  He is the Chairman of the Trustee Board at Roberts Tabernacle, CME church.  He and his wife, Brenda, have four children, Dondi, Andrew Jr., Monica and Brian.
