Mr. Dennis Bailey was appointed to Ward 4 in April 2010 and elected to his first term in October 2011. Dennis is a Shelby native, attending Crest High School before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1980, initially serving in aircraft maintenance, then as an Intelligence Analyst, Project Manager, Enlisted Personnel Manager (1st Sergeant), and Superintendent. Dennis retired in 2000 and returned to Shelby. Between 2000 and 2002, he and his wife, Sandy, renovated their 88-year-old home that was, at the time, 30 days from being demolished.
Dennis is a Commercial and Residential Real Estate Broker affiliated with RE/MAX Select in Shelby.
He is married to the former Sandra (Sandy) English of Hampton, Virginia who he met while stationed at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. They have three children: Ryan Bailey, 21; Dylan Bailey, 19; and Christina Stiehle, 25.
