Mr. Royster is a graduate of the Shelby City School System and has a degree in business from Furman University.  He is Vice President of Royster Oil Company, a locally-based, fourth-generation 83 year old petroleum business.  He was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Pete Gilbert of Ward 4, and is currently in his second term of City Council and serves as Mayor Pro Tempore.  Mr. Royster has been married for 21 years to Ann McBrayer, a retired kindergarten teacher who taught in Rutherford County.  They have one son, Paul, who is a senior at Shelby High School.
