Uptown Water/Sewer Project: Graham Street at Lafayette Street: Wednesday, November 7th

Post Date:11/02/2018

A contractor for the City of Shelby will be tying over water lines at the intersection of Graham Street and Lafayette Street on Wednesday, November, 7th. Interruptions of water service will begin at 11:00 pm Wednesday night and be completed by 6:00 am Thursday morning; weather permitting. Customers affected will be between Washington Street and Morgan Street.

If you experience discolored water after this time:

• Turn on your faucets and if you encounter discolored water, run cold water for a few minutes allowing new water to work its way into your pipes. If the water is not clear, wait a few more minutes and check again. In some cases, there may be slight discoloration for a few hours. This discoloration only affects the appearance of the water; it does not affect the taste or water quality.

• Avoid washing laundry until the water runs clear at the tap, then wash a load of dark clothes first.

• If pressure or volume seems low, check your faucet screens for trapped particles.
