Position will perform a variety of work related to repairs and maintenance of the Parks and Recreation Department including mowing; trimming; maintaining playgrounds; ball fields; golf course and cemeteries. Paints and helps set up gymnasium for events. Operating mowers, tractors and hand tools as well as maintenance on equipment and tools is required. Physical working requirement consist of the lifting 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Work requires constant stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, grasping and repetitive motions. Exposure to noise and extreme temperatures occurs frequently.
Hours: Full-time, first shift hours. Job requires working some weekends, holidays, and evenings for special events, rentals and festivals.
To Compete in the Selection Process:
High school diploma or equivalent and valid NC driver license required. Qualified applicant must possess a general knowledge of maintenance equipment and techniques as well as practices of recreation work. Considerable combination of experience and knowledge working with multiple types of turf areas is strongly preferred. Grade 12 minimum entry rate $10.56 per hour. Position posted until filled.
