Item - Text / Quote On Friday, May 22, the Cleveland County Firefighter Memorial Service was held at Shelby Fire Station II, in Shelby, North Carolina, to honor and remember firefighters and personnel who have sacrificed their lives in service to our community. This service also paid tribute to the active and retired firefighters who have passed away over the course of the last year. The Cleveland County Firefighter Memorial Service is observed each year on or near the anniversary of the Shelby fire of 1979, a fire which claimed the lives of four firefighters and a City of Shelby natural gas employee.

Item - Text / Quote On Friday, May 15, Road to Hope, the Shelby Police Department, Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, Kings Mountain Police Department, elected officials, and community members, gathered together for the National Police Week Memorial Service at the Fallen Heroes Memorial, in Shelby, NC. This ceremony honors the memory of law enforcement officers from our community who have given their lives in the line of duty. It serves as a tribute to our fallen heroes and a testament to the dedication of those who bravely serve our community today.
