Item - Text / Quote What an exciting morning as Shelby Fire and Rescue team members assisted the 5th grade science class at James Love Elementary School with their Egg Drop Challenge on Friday, September 11, 2026! Students worked in groups and carefully packaged 13 eggs to be dropped from Shelby Fire and Rescue ladder truck #33. Incredibly, 5 of the 13 eggs survived a drop from a height of about 70 feet! Congratulations to all the students who participated, and a special thank you to James Love Elementary School for allowing us to be a part of this fun event.

Item - Text / Quote In commemoration of our nation’s 250th anniversary, the City of Shelby's Stormwater Division is sponsoring an America 250 Creek Cleanup Event on Saturday, June 13, from 9 am-12 pm. (Rain date: Saturday, June 27, 9 am-12 pm) We will be wading in the creek so come prepared to get wet. Please do not wear open-toed shoes.
